This weekend we went to Cedar Rapids, IA for Flyball, and The Flying Sausage did AWESOME!!! I don’t have the official tally yet, but I believe she got just less than 600 points. Her highest weekend to date was 489 points, so this is great! :hula1:
This was a big weekend for us because Peaches was the only “height dog” on our team. We normally have two and they take turns racing. However, since we couldn’t find enough crazy people to go to Cedar Rapids in Feb., she was the only one which meant she ran in every race.
I was very nervous about this because I wasn’t sure if she had the endurance to last all weekend, but she did it no problem! Normally by the end of day 2, she is dragging. However, this weekend she ran some of her fastest times in the last 3 races. :cheer2:
The highlight of my weekend was in the 2nd to last race. Our team was ahead when I sent Peaches who is the 4th dog to run. However, the other team’s 4th dog was a border collie, so I fully expected him to pass Peaches. Well, The Flying Sausage must have turned on her turbo jets :seeya: because she beat him by like a nose. I think it was by a hundredth of a second or something like that. I couldn’t believe it!
It was so cold this weekend! :freezing: Temps were negative and the wind was awful. Inside the racing building you could see the breath of the barking dogs. Although, it was worth it to see my little Peaches do so well! :hearts:
No pictures of her racing because the team put John to work picking up balls and holding dogs, but I did get a few pics of the wiens sitting around between races that I’ll post tonight.
