Just wondering if anyone has found a recipe that their pups liked or if you can reccommend a bakery for ordering one....(someone is going to be 5 in a few days) We were going to go away for his b'day, but no longer can so I need to find a cake for him.....

I made a beautiful spelt and carob cake for Mitch on his first birthday, It had no wheat in it and I frosted it with 7 minute frosting, the egg white type. We even ate some of it. Wasn't too bad flavor wise I just didn't care for the texture. Dogs loved it though!

check out this place: http://www.funstufffordogs.com/Qstore/Qstore.cgi?CMD=007&DEPT=1107143481&BACK=A0009A1B01105899616B1F01105899616F1I000010I1J 01171298813J1

I am not sure if you have time to order. There is a place near me that does a cake. We got one for B's 1st birthday.

This is the one I made for Molly last year:

1 cup flour
1tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool. Puree cottage cheese in blender for icing. Decorate with more peanut butter and carrots.

Instead of the cottage cheese icing, I just spread some plain yogurt on top, and chopped up some pupperonies.

Here is a pic: :D

Wow, look at Molly's cake!

I had to buy mine:

It only came in one size. But I had to have it. *cries* I had dog cake in my freezer forever.

Then I found this other little dogshop/bakery that does these little bunt cake things. So we got these for Reese's birthday.

I made a cake for Napoleon's birthday and I made the same one for Chrystyna's Tex's birthday too - the dogs LOVED IT! It is a peanut butter carrot cake with carob icing...

Is the cake recipe. For the carob icing you have to melt 1 pkg of them in a double boiler in vegetable oil then spread it over the cooled cake.

The results...

Tex's cake before the frosting cooled. I used yogurt chips for his name. You can get them from the small animal section at Petsmart.

Oh my I knew I had a ruff day yesterday just didn't realize it was that bad (ok maybe I did know it was that bad I got lost in my own subdivision where I lived for 2 years, I went in the back underdeveloped part and was like Umm, so I just started driving towards the homes...so sad.)

My daughter Aisha bakes her own dog's birthday cakes, then invites all their furry friends to a big birthday bash. She bakes a non-spicy meatloaf & then "frosts" it with mashed potatoes! You could "decorate" it with cute-shaped doggie treats .:rotfl:

Why can't you just make a yellow cake add shredded carrots and make a vanilla whipped cream frosting. You do an awesome job on your wedding cakes.

Another idea if you want to write on pups' birthday cake.....put cheez-wiz ( you might have to soften it with a bit of water, first) in a cake-decorating bag & then pipe the pups name etc. with that. No harmful dyes & boy, do doxies love CHEESE!
