I think Gigi has no manner at all! It has been our latest "training" that she has to sit/down stay when I put the food bowl on the floor and she can start chowing when I said "ok". And shortly after our new training she started her diet. I cut her food 1/3ish per meal. And now when she sit/down stay for her food, she made this growl like she is impatient. And today I was putting away things and such, she actually BARKS at me. I KNOW she is telling me "woman feed me". But where is her manner! Saturday the trainer did tell her "it's not ok to just care about the food" during agility, because she barks for treats when she was weaving... she weaved, but you know she is all about food. Is Gi the only one who is food crazy here?

Gi barks a lot in class. And I think she is the only one who barks in class.
Trixie will do anything for food. :rotfl:

Awww, poor Gigi! Put on a diet AND you have to do agility!? I'd totally protest too! :rotfl:

I think it is the dachsie thing. Seb is the only one who barks in class at other dogs. Before we used to have a cute dapple dachsie in the class and she would always bark at other dogs as well.

Bogart can be really demanding about food. I've had to work with him a lot to get him to stop barking for food. He and Cash are totally food motivated. It makes them easier to train, but can cause problems.
I've noticed a lot of dogs bark when they do agility. I thought that it was just because they were excited. :dunno:

Per our trainer, Gigi was frustrated when she barks... of course a lot of time it could be excitment. But I can see her point... sometimes she is not sure what I want her to do... I guess she is just a very verbal girl.

Gigi is just a diva that knows what she wants! I actually think it's kind of cute that she tells you to hurry up with her dinner :) At least she's not as bad as cricket. My BIL left a bowl of tuna on the coffe table last night while he want to the bathroom and when he cane back cricket was eating it!
When I watch agility on tv, I've noticed that a lot of dogs bark while running the course. As long as she's doing what you ask, I don't think its a big problem.
As for sitting quietly and waiting for the ok before eating, well Tasha must do this too and generally she minds her manners and sits quietly. But every now and then we get the "hurry it up I'm starving" bark!
