As many of you know, I brought Louie in this morning to see if there was anything more the vet could do for him. While his kidney numbers were up, he is in complete kidney failure and there is nothing to do to reduce his suffering other than let him go to the bridge. I wanted to be there, but I didn't want to prolong his ending just to suit my wants. I asked the Dr. to set him in front of a computer monitor (his favorite place) and let him go.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts, prayers and candles lit for Louie. He was an important part of my Anipal Family, and will be missed greatly. Don't shed tears for his loss, celebrate the borrowed time he got to share with me.

Now there are 8 cats.

:ditto: here. Man, it's really hard to type when you can't see the keyboard through the tears. Will light a :candle: in Louie's name for safe passage to the bridge. I'm so sorry for this loss, but at the same time I'm glad he's not suffering. Sending plenty of :hug99: :hug99: :hug99: for you and your achy heart.:hug99:

Yup, me too ... couldn't help the tears. :candle2: and godspeed, Louie...hopefully there are computers at the bridge! You tried your best, Andrea. But you made the right decision, hard as it is. :hug99::hug99: for your poor battered heart. This has been quite a week...hopefully you won't have too many more like it!

Louie goes to join his many sisters and brothers who went before their times. I'll light a special candle for him. Know he was met by a special Omi and Papa who knew what a special man he was!

I specifically requested NO SMIRKING CAT TIN this time. The vet didn't charge me anything for Louie's cremation or the bloodwork today, so that was a big break.

I thought about that. I wonder if there is a computer monitor shaped urn somewhere out there for him? Sorry to hear he didn't make it, but his life with you was the best.

Louie was a handsome little guy and I am certainly saddned by your loss. I am sure however, his life with you
was filled with love and happiness. A :candle3: is lit in CA, in honor and celebration of his life.

... Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.

It's kind of funny how Lizzie's 'smirking cat tin' has let me smile during Louie's loss. It's like her gift to me, and I'm soooo glad I passed it on to a deserving CanadiUn :)

I could just see it, getting a black and white one and Lily being all "WHAT THE HELL MOM! I'M EATING THE HARD CATFOOD ALREADY!!"

And did anyone else notice the 'rule of 3'. Right now, we have 3 active "Always in Our Hearts" topics. I really think Louie gave up his miracle for Dusty. Louie was an awesome kitty, and I'll be thankful for his gift always.
