DH's Chocolate Lab who he has had for FOURTEEN years, which is a very long time esp for a big doggie, has gone to the bridge. The good news is she is probably playing very gently with the weens, as she loved Duchie.

She was a good girl, and she had mammary cancer. The vet said the surgery would be very hard on her and she might not make it through, and for such an old gal and such a BIG gal, it would be very very painful. He opted not to put her through that.

DH went out to feed her last night and she was not feeling too good, and when he checked on her this morning before I left for work she had gone.

Hannah was a very, very good girl. big brown eyes full of love and loyal as the day is long. Godspeed, Hannah.

:candle: I grew up with chocolate labs. They are the sweetest, most loving dogs in the world and they are beautiful. I hope your baby girl is happy at the bridge and not in pain anymore!

So sorry for DH, and for you too.
:candle: for your sweet girl.

That is what happened with my Tristan, he was fine in the AM and it was over by 6PM. I am so grateful for that (for both him and me).

there will be no snarky smirking doggie tin - DH TOOK OFF WORK to bury her and we made a cross... DH taking off work is a huge deal, he works at a prison and you just don't take off work.... and he is very dedicated... and he took off work for her. I know that sounds silly, but he just does not take off. ever.
I will let you all in on a secet. The first year we were married I made a list and put at least one thing each week on the document "Things I Love About My DH"... one of the things on the list was "he will cry when Hannah dies"

((sigh))

Oh I am so sorry. Ditto about chocolate labs. my parents had one and now my sister has one.

What a blessing it is that she passed at home and knew it was her time and you didn't have to make the decision for her. I bet she was greatful for having had such a happy, loving home.
