I made my reservations this week at the same La Quinta (spanish for next to IHOP) that we were all at last year. Cash and Miller are psyched.
Buda, Buda, Buda. :cheer3: :cheer3:
So who else is going?

Buda is a wondrous town located just outside of Austin, TX. Every year, the Buda Lion's club hosts the Wiener Dog Races at the fairgrounds. Apart from seeing a brazillion weens, there are booths selling dachshund related items like you would not believe. It is so freaking fun that your head may asplode from the sheer weenerness of it.
I have not committed to attending this year due to fundage issues but will strive to do so. My cousin has offered me a place to stay, but I don't want to impose with my weens in tow. I'll have to see....
We'll be there (of course :)!). My mom is coming up with her doxie........
I'm so excited about getting to see everyone again, and meeting new people! :D
I really hope it works out Andrea!!! My pups are counting on you to share your pizza!!!
And I finally get to meet the fabulous Yolanda and GOOSEman!!!!!!:woonana:
Ok, I'm going to have to through a BIG party out at our house!!! Fire up the grill, all dogs welcome!!!!!!:cheer3: :cheer3: :cheer3:

Buda is always held the last weekend in April. If you want to know weather - that could be anywhere from 60-90 degrees. Talk about specific, huh?

I have 2 more beds (one king and one queen) available for rent...and my rent is cheap! I do require a pet deposit - one kiss from each dog staying with you. Steep I know but hey, you do what you have to. All are allowed on beds and couches and well..in this house, I am not sure I would notice any accidents. I am in north Austin but have access to a mini-van to cart us down there.

Well hun...you could stay here for free (that is how much my "rent" is). I can cart folks to and from the airport and things like that too. Check Jet Blue also...they are often cheaper than SW or NW and cheaper than you can find on yahoo or travelocity.
I can also drive to and from the airport......
Unfortunately, my mom has already called dibs on our guest room, but John says to post that we do have a large new sectional couch that could sleep 1-2 humans, and several weens :).
I told John that he could always sleep on the couch, we could put mom in with me, and that would free up the guest room.....I don't think he went for the scenario......

Last year, several of us stayed at the La Quinta. It was pretty nice, it does allow dogs, and there is an IHOP right next door :)
I will try to find the address link...
I hope lots of people come! This will be great!!

We usually meetup at the motel once everyone gets there and decide when we're going out the next day. Last year we caravanned down together and then staked out our area to set up for the day.
Let's see if we can get that big tree on the little hill like we did last year. It was a lot cooler up there than down by the booths.

LaQuinta was very tolerant of the dachshund invasion, so I wouldn't worry. But you can go even without dogs (I have, and usually borrow an extra doxie from someone :D ).
holy crap it's like $100 each way to fly with a dog. in the cabin. as luggage. where they don't even TOUCH HER....

Cash barks all the time, at everything when we're at home, but he was very good in the La Quinta. I'd never taken them anywhere with me overnight and I was very pleasantly surprised. For one thing they were exhausted most of the time from all the excitement. :rotfl:
I take both of mine, so someone can borrow one if they don't bring theirs. Cash is always up for someone to rub his tummy. :hearts: :hearts: Or feed him. Preferably both.

Since Hubby says it is 90% sure that I will go, I am as excited to meet Zandra and her mom as seeing the doxies and the rest of the DLC'ers! I can "adopt" a girl while I am in TX and my boys will never know LOL, they are so posessive of me that I am NOT ALLOWED to coo and awww over girl doxies in their presence :sosad: , I adore my boys but I cant wait till I can love on some girls w/ out fear of retribution LOL! The nice thing to me is "hopefully" some of Z's doxies will love me and want to sleep w/ me so I can go to sleep. I havent slept doxie free for more then a weekend in 5 years so I am not sure I am able.
As I will be "free" that weekend of DH and the boys and "hopefully" doing well w/ my back and tummy I will lovingly and happily hold, watch any doxie while I am sitting, resting as I KNOW I will need to do a lot of that.

One of them love you...hahah.... and actually you have just given me a FABULOUS solution!!
Last night while I was talking to Lisa she asked the girls what they wanted for rewards if they did a good job this week... Sophie said a breakfast sausage patty and Lili said a night alone in the big bed with Mommie. I was wondering exactly how I would pull that off...but when you are there I can really do it... you can have all the rest of them one night (the other nights you can have a few of them) and she can get her wish...I am going to have to talk to her about that right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be a happy participate in a big doxie pile up while I am there! Anything to just be helpful LOL like I wont be enjoying every second of it! I am just so so so excited!!!!!:cheer3: :cheer3:
That between now and Buda, there is Valentine's Day, my birthday (and it's a big one), my one year wedding anniversary/St. Patrick's day, and John's birthday......and I'M STILL MORE EXCITED ABOUT BUDA THAN ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!:cheer3: :cheer3: :cheer3:
I know that my dh will be there when he doesn't have to work, so there may be sometimes when I'm solo with 3 doxies........I am definitely willing to share! :)
Hey Mama, I got a solution...bring da boy, da mudder, and da baby, oh....and da brat, and we'll celebrate here! :cheer3: You can celebrate with everyone at home either right before or right after......that could work, right
I will see if my mom and I can get there early on Sat. and set up by the big tree. That was a really nice spot. Anyone in TX or who is driving, if you have an x-pen, bring it! I have one of Zandra's nice one's right now :ashamed:, and I know that it really helped last year to have a place to let the pups be off leash but safe. I'm sure we'll do a "what to bring" list as the date gets closer!!!

2.5 to 3 hours depending on how fast you drive and the traffic. Is this a hint?

Well, I've been looking, and it appears that I can get a return flight through Toronto for a little over $500, and if I rented a car in Houston (and didn't kill myself trying to get out of the city!!) it might just be doable. But we'll have to see what's going on with Alex closer to the day. Maybe, though..........:crossfin:

Paula, you could come to my house and drive up with us! We're on the far northwest side of Houston so it's on the way. If you wanted to come a day early you could stay overnight at our house. I'd offer to let you ride with us, but the extended cab on Jim's new truck isn't that big and you'd have to ride back there with the dogs so it wouldn't be very comfortable.

Hey I always see fares from Dallas-Toronto for around $200. But aren't you pretty far from Toronto? (not real familiar with Canada but I want to say Toronto is near Buffalo and you are out on the coast north of Maine?)
And the drive to the hotel from Dallas would be about 3 hrs depending on traffic. Just one road (I-35) the whole way from the airport pretty much. Well you'd have to take Hwy 183 to get to I-35, but it'd be a straight shot then and no terrible Houston traffic (sorry Houstonians!).
Cheap airfares: http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/tabid/76/AirportId/76/Default.aspx I love that site and the International fares make me DROOL. Next year I am so planning a vacation in Feb!
Edit: Too bad it's not next weekend!

Oooh!! Courtney! I forgot that United flies out of Halifax!!! ***rushing off to look at UA website! Yup, I'm a ways from Toronto, but it's only an hour and a half flight, and then a direct flight to Houston (or Nashville). But if I could get a direct UA flight, that'd be incredible!
