I know this is a doxie board, but I wanted to make a tribute to Kitty. This is the first time that I have been able to talk about her without major crying.

On December 29, 2007, I had to make the decision to help Kitty to go over the rainbow bridge. She had kidney failure and she was no longer responsive.

I had Kitty for 17.5 years, since she was about 12 weeks old. She lived with Bunny, Cooler, Hunter, Juney and Trixie.

My friend witnessed someone stop on the San Diego Freeway and throw Kitty out of their truck. Poor little baby started walking towards the busy freeway, but my friend was able to quickly stop her car and grab Kitty. If she hadn't rescued Kitty, then Kitty would not have had 17.5 wonderful years bringing loved and in turn bringing joy to our family.

Kitty was a beautiful medium-haired tortoiseshell cat. I loved her face which was bisected with two colors. She was such a sweetheart and was rather affectionate. She was a small cat, about 7.5-8 lbs.

Kitty used to sleep with my arm wrapped around her. She loved that. She was a funny cat, too, and made me and my son laugh. She was very bossy with all the dogs.

I miss Kitty and tears still come to my eyes when I think of her.

You gave your Kitty such a wonderful life, the next one she has will be just like it:hug99: except for the being tossed from a truck by asshats.
And you should know by now, any anipal that shares its life with a doxie and is loved by you is near and dear to all of us, and we share your grief:hug99: Our love is not limited to one breed or species.

What a wonderful tribute to your kitty. I am so sorry you had to say good-bye to her. She is the twin sister to a kitty I grew up with,Che Elizabeth. She went over the bridge at about 17 1/2 . :sosad: Thank you for saving her a giving her a wonderful life. Life with a dachshund is never dull for any animal.:bighug: :candle3:

Thank you all for the comments. Everytime I read them, I had to suddenly go off the board because it made me cry. I miss Kitty.

First off, let me say how sorry I am for your loss of Kitty. It's amazing how these little animals touch our lives.

I want to say this is one of the hardest posts I have had to read. It has taken many days to actually be able to respond as I too have a little tortoiseshell female cat and she is currently in the end days of chronic renal failure. She is 18 1/2 years old and has been the queen of the house since the day I got her at 8 weeks.

As we know, things get easier to deal with as time passes, but she will always hold a big place in your heart and you will think of her often.
