Need rays, prayers. Updated- please light a candle

My beautiful German Shepherd, Trooper, is 12 years old. We know that he has tumors that are probably malignant, but at his age, we don't want to stress him too much with tests. He's lived a good life. Well, tonight, I found him nearly unresponsive. His pupils are fixed and dilated, and he's breathing is extremely labored. He can't get up. He puts his head on my lap and just looks at me. I've already made and canceled his appointment at the ER vet to help him to the bridge. He is on 30mg of Valium to help him through the night. I don't know if he's going to make it through the night, but I'll be sleeping on the couch right next to him. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers tonight. Here are some pics of my big boy

Trooper passed away in his sleep last night. He started having labored breathing in the early evening yesterday. Though he did have two small tumors on his foot, I believe his old heart just gave out. He spent most of the night last night resting his head in my lap, with me loving on him and telling him what a good boy he is.

Just wanted to share with you guys- everyone who met him loved him.

Andrea- you have no idea. Your words are so healing. It's so funny that you mentioned Adan. Sometime after we all fell asleep, Adan sat straight up in bed and started talking as though he were awake. I do not know what time it was, but in my heart I feel that was Trooper telling his boy good bye. He did love Adan SO very much. He was his guardian and protector. Adan doesn't know how lucky he was to have such a wonderful protector.
