Finally...Pics of the All Dachshund Flyball Team and Piper's Big Debut!!!

As you guys know, we went to Memphis last weekend for the Flyball Dream Team Challenge. Our team consisted of 5 dachshunds:
Autumn Breeze from TN
Dapple from MI
Jane Doe from VA
Peaches from IL
Piper Man from IL

Our team name was Dash Hounds! We were in the slowest division, but our competition was still like 7 seconds faster than us usually! Oh well…what we lacked in speed, we made up for in cuteness and determination! The plan was for Autumn, Dapple, and Peaches to run full time. Jane (who came out of retirement to race with us) and Piper (this was his first tournament) would take turns in the 4th running spot.

All of our doxies did great, and we even won 1 race against a team of Golden Retrievers! Peaches was awesome as usual, but John and I were excited to see how Piper would do. He was a little nervous the first race because there were a ton of people lined up to watch. Piper was a bit shakey in his warm-up, so he didn’t run in the first race. By the second race, he had calmed down, and he got to run. His first run was perfection!!! You’d have never know it was his first time competing. Unfortunately mid-day Jane got freaked out after she stumbled over one of the jumps, and she didn’t run the rest of the day. Piper Man stepped in and ran full-time the rest of the day. He was absolutely flawless! We were SO proud of him!!! We need to work on his speed, but that will come with time. It was great to see he had the fundamentals nailed. One time a golden retriever ran down the lane right at Piper, and Piper didn’t even care. He finished his run and came right to John to get his cheese!

The pictures are fantastic, the video is so kewl..... the out takes - I laughed so hard..... I cannot even imagine either of mine doing that....the Dash Hounds are awesome !!! Looks like you have TWO Flying Sausages in the family. He really enjoyed running Piper Man! For the next tournament, I asked him if he wanted to run Piper or should I plan on running him. John said "Well, I could run him." :)
