I got a very sad call from Petey's mom tonight. Petey hadn't been feeling well and was throwing up Monday night. Marilee called her vet and they decided he needed to be seen Tuesday morning. Marilee picked Petey up from his bed getting ready to head to the vet when he took a deep breath sort of sighed and died. Marilee is heart broken as am I. She wished she could've had him with her for many more years but sadly it wasn't meant to be as she only had him with her a few short months. Marilee thinks he might have gotten food posioning from his dog food. There might have been a good chance he had cancer or a brain tumor as when they did the ultasound on his eye the tech said she thought she could see a mass but we can't be sure. Marilee didn't want see him cut open so no autopsy was preformed so we will never know for sure what went wrong with our sweet Petey Pete.

Oh that's so sad! Many hugs for Mailee's broken heart!!!!!! How wonderful that Petey had such a loving home for the last months...

He passed in the arms of the one who loved him most. It doesn't make the loss any easier, but his soul is better for it. Herman still has his tag on his collar. :hearts:

Godspeed, little man :candle2: His little face had a place in my heart from the moment I saw it, for some reason. Many :hug99::hug99: for the Petey-shaped hole in Marilee's heart (and yours, Shonda). He was well loved, and crossed in the best possible place he could be.

I really thought I that he'd stay with me until he passed as I had him well over a year and no one had even asked about him and then Marilee came along. She loved him and I knew she was the prefect match but it wasn't easy letting him go even though I knew it was where he belonged.

Shonda I am so sorry, and please extend my sympathy to Marilee too!

He was a special little guy and I am so sorry he did not get to hang out with Marilee for long. He was well loved, and I must say as tragic as the loss of any of our beloved ones is... there is a warm spot in my heart knowing he crossed safely in the loving arms of his forever mom.

All dogs go go heaven, but Petey just passed from one heaven (your house) to another (Marilee's) to another...
