It's our club's spring trial-USDAA agility. Gonna go today and help set up then two long days of agility with O and Salsa and Toots (friend's minpin)
USDAA is basically 4 sections..they have Championship levels and Performance levels. Performance has a lower a-frame, no triple jumps, and lower jump heights. Since the lowest height in championship is 12 inches, of course my dogs are in performance (jumping 8. Which is still taller than both of them at the shoulder-O is 7 and Salsa 6.5).
THEN they have Starters, Advanced, and Masters. if you are in Performance, it's PI, PII, and PIII.
There are typically two rings: Masters and PIII in one, and the rest in the other. It's always a big deal to be in the MASTERS RING. Really never thought I would be and didn't particularly want to as there are world class dogs in there and very competative handlers and I run weenerdogs and an insect size chi.
HOWEVER, the BUG and I will be making our Master's ring debut tomorrow. PIII Snooker. Whoohooo. I'm a bit nervous. There's a conflict and I need to be in two rings at once so I'm nervous about that and also that I'll screw up snooker and look like an idiot. A MASTERS RING idiot.... ONly good thing is that it is one of the first runs so Salsa will be fresh-it's harder for her to run outside in the grass. Hopefully it won't be too wet cuz she hates that...
Our club is called AWSOMM )which stands for something I don't remember..something dumb like agility workout society of mid-michigan??)
So in honor of this weekend I made O and Salsa harness vests with an AWSOMM patch on each. They aren't my best work cuz I made them really fast...
Laika didn't get one but she hates harnesses (and she has 4) But she is awsome also of course.
Salsa's says Little is AWSOMM and O's says Wieners are AWSOMM

that is just.. well, AWSOMM. Best of luck and I am so glad you and the kiddos have something you enjoy so much that you can do together!

Good luck!!!! I love the harnesses. We had a super fun USDAA weekend too (already done b/c they ran S,PI/Adv/PII on Friday PM and Sat AM and Masters/PIII the rest of the weekend) even though our trial was outdoors, muddy, damp and humid. Thor Q'd in Standard (amazing, did teeter and table!), Snooker and Jumpers. I screwed up royally in Pairs and we never Q in Gamblers lol. Can't wait to hear how your PIII runs went!!!

Welp Miss Salsalita did it!!!! She did not qualify in PIII snooker saturday (frgging imPOSSible course...not ONE of the 22 inch dogs qualified and that height is all the border collies!!!)
But today, on the wierdest snooker course I ever saw, Salsa not only qualified, but made it through the whole closing and got a SUPER Q. What is that, you might say (cuz I said it, when everyone was yelling to me that Salsa got a super Q). It's when your dog's score (only in PIII and Masters) is in the top 10 percent of their jump height. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 depending on the number of dogs. But there aren't many little dogs in that level in USDAA so they grouped the 8 inch, 12 inch, and 16 inch together and Salsa's score was highest!!!!!!!!!!! And most of the 16 inch dogs are shelties!!
It was SOOOOO cool because a lot of people in the Master's ring don't know me or my dogs...I mean some see me but never have seen them run and my friend Becky was leash running so she heard some of them talking when I went out there... Some people were saying what the heck is THAT???? I have gerbils bigger than that dog. Then when she ran they were just shocked and by the end they were cheering!!!! The judge was just really pleased and amazed. I bet he goes home (upstate new york) and talks about my dog :)
She got an advanced jumpers q and advanced pairs relay, also. Owen got ONE Q in pairs and that was it. He was just nuts today...the ring was right up against the tent and they had FOOD in there. He just lost his little mind when he was on that side of the course. In advanced snooker he knocked a bar so we were leaving the course and he left first..went right into the tent.
People started yelling that there was a little weener in the tent. When I finally caught him (he would NOT come to me) he laid on his back with his ridiculous silly face and his silly peenie and wagging his tail like crazy...
such a silly guy. He had some really nice runs though...under time but he does tend to knock bars outside. Bumpy terrain and long grass. Salsa never knocks bars but we don't think she can-if she hits them nothing happens LOL.
O did run a clean jumpers but was .7 seconds over time. Good lord. Seems like you could round down...damn electronic timers. He did slip and fall on his little chin during that run and I'm sure that took up 7 freaking 10ths of a second!
I also ran Toots the min pin which is sooo hard as he lacks focus so I must run with one eye on him ready to yell his name when I see that little head start looking around. He's fast as anything but such a strange little dog...
We got 3 q's I think. He left the ring a lot the first day which is frustrating but by the end of today he was running with me pretty well. I finished his starters snooker last weekend and got his first advanced snooker Q today.
The only bad thing is my right knee is swelled up the size of a baby's head..actually my whole calf is very swollen too. That's the knee I had repaired so I'm kinda pizzed off about that but it was a lot of running on bumpy ground and doG knows I'm not so young....
YAY SALSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Congratulations Salsa:bounce4: and Owen Weiner!!!:bounce1: Sorry I missed your post. I was in White plains NY at the Cherry Blossom festival watching my daughter and her friends perform in the rain. What an exciting accomplishment for you and the kids. You really must be on:cloud9: Love the pictures of Salsa and her boyfriend with their harnesses. Did Laika get to go and hang out in her harness? Doxie would have made a beeline staight for the chow. They really should put that tent somewhere else. Congratulations again:appl: :appl: :appl: :cheer3: :cheer3: :cheer3:
