Found another half ripe tomato today and thought I'd re-create the scene, like any good detective...
Same place...different tomato

That is hilarious! Good job Laika!

I had a cocker spaniel that would go to the neighbors garden and steal tomatoes. We'd find a perfect tomato on our porch every morning. We thought it was the neighbor, Chet, bringing us one each day. One day Duwayne was out mowing and saw Chet, so he went over and thanked him for the tomatoes. Chet looked at Duwayne real funny and said He wasn't bringing us tomatoes- our dog was stealing them from him! We were so embarrassed, but he just laughed it off. The next year he planted 2 extra plants just for Petals to steal from. We lived in that house for 4 years and he planted tomatoes for her every year.

She never ate them, though. She'd just bring one up on the porch each day. Not a tooth mark on it either!

Gosh if they didn't make her sick I wouldn't mind at all..heck I'd go pick tomatoes for her but she got really sick last year eating tomatoes. We had a TON of them esp. cherry tomatoes and she'd sneak into the garden and pick them herself and got a horrible case of gastritis.

Apparently dogs :love9: tomatoes. Gretchen, my GS, got into my tomatoes and ate at least 3 pounds of them. I thought kids were stealing them until my next door neighbor told me she actually saw her in there. I had a fence around them. She went thru the fence. I pushed a few chairs against it. She pushed past the chairs and the fence. Grrrr. I took the metal patio table to the set, turned it on its side and put it and the chairs around the fence. Gretch got in the garden.

By now it looked like a stronghold in Beruit. With tomato vines. And an eager 70 lb GS determined to get in. We had some wooden doors in the garage and we rebuilt around the garden. We also just started feeding her tomatoes in hopes she would leave us some.

The following year we put up a new garden area that would have kept wild mustangs out. Bunnies got in, but Gretchen didn't.

Good luck keeping her out of your tomatoes.

That is so funny! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I had a cat that used to eat my jalapeno peppers off the vine, then drop them to the ground so that my dogs ate them, too. I'm guessing that since the pepper was so hot, that's why they would leave most of it uneaten, but it didn't teach them not to touch any further jalapenos! :faint:

Laika is doing really well with her ability to stand up on her hind legs. :cheer3: :cheer3:
