Maisy was my house managers lab. She was adopted from a shelter 9 years ago when she was thought to 1 or 2. A week after they got her home she had 6 puppies! What a shock!!! They placed all the pups and Maisy was spayed and then proceeded to live the good life. Kelley loved that dog so much that she took her every she could even with her to work when she was able.
Two weeks ago it was thought her heart was failing so the vet put her on meds. They didn't seem to be working so Kelley took her to her reg vet (who was on vacation when she got sick) who drained blood out of her tummy. Not a good sign. Kelley decided to go ahead and do surgery to find out if they could save her. They opened her up and she was full of cancer. :( Kelley had her put to sleep because there was no hope of her even living a few more weeks pain free. She was slowing down this summer but we all thought it was because of the heat and not being able to travel with her mom in the car (she always got a little depressed in the summer).
Good bye sweet Maisy. I will miss you coming to the auditorium to visit me and your happy wiggly butt (her tail would wag a mile a minute) and your big ol' smile. :candle:
