Here are some pics of my new 75 gallon Aquarium that I just set up on Tuesday. Freshwater fish are my second passion aside from loving dogs being number #1!!.
before I went away to college I had 3 large tanks but had to sell them because my mom could not take care of them while I was gone. Now that I am stable in my own home again I can start up my fish hobby again..
I bought the tank in October, but had to wait until the tax refund came in to buy the wooden stand and everything else to get it started.
I will start adding fish next week after the water has had time to condition and stablize.

WOW!!!! :appl: What a beautiful set up you have. I bet it's nice to have some fish in there too! :dolphin:
That is a Great tank very nicly setup and your doing the right thing by letting it go through its filtration cycle, I had a custom made 55 Gallon tank but when we bought our house we couldnt find a proper place to put, so we settled for a 25 Gallon tank instead.
We currently have 2 clown loaches.
So what kind of fish are you planning to populate it with?
Gorgeous Tank! I can't wait to see the fish too.

Clown Loaches are my favorite!!!, They are just so beautiful. I used to have a few in my other tanks many many years ago.. Over 15 years ago I had a 55 gallon and two 30 gallon tanks. For me the Aquariums are so relaxing to look at. I'm hoping to add a few more to the house, but they are so expensive to set up the larger tanks, I have to control myself fora while and settle with the 75 gallon for now. I am going to keep a smaller community of fish and buy the ones that stay on a smaller scale. So I will be able to add a wide variety of fish. The clown loaches and Kuli Loaches will be some of my first additions after I get the starter fish in the tank and get the bacteria levels going in there.

Nice set up there. I used to hate my dad's fishes, only because he MADE me help me to clean the tank. lol. My dad used to have gold fish.

It is so easy to get hooked on this hobby because the fish really are so pretty and it is good stress therapy too!!!.
I plan on getting swordtails, platys, dwarf gouramis, red tailed sharks, black sharks, tiger barbs, clown loaches, kuli loaches, neon tetras, bleeding heart tetras, lots of suckers (algae eaters, plecostomus, etc,) to keep the glass clean, maybe some angel fish, but the tiger barbs like to nip their fins,
My absolute favorite are Discus, they are just beautiful if you have never seen them before, they are completely round fish, and have a mirad of colors, rainbow colors etc.. they are very docile and usually require a tank by themselves.
I will keep posting pics once I start adding the fish..

Oh that is so neat! I really really want a little puffer fish (they are so cute!!). But I don't think I'd be able to take care of it properly. Give me a pond and that I can handle because it almost takes care of itself with regards to cleaning.
Oh and Laurie you should try adding some Rosy Red minnows to your pond. They are so active even in the colder winter months. We see them swimming under the layer of ice all winter long. :)

WEll, I took a water sample to the pet store today and the water test came out perfect!!!, Ph levels perfect and everything,, the water is crystal clear!!!
I came home with 15 tiny starter fish to get the cycle going in the tank, just some neon tetras, black tetras, and zebra danios. They are the real cheap fish, so they will test out the tank for a week, and if they survive then I can start adding some of the other fish.
Can't take any pics yet, cause these guys are so so tiny the pics won't show anything..
