Pogo went down with IVDD and I truly didn't know how I was going to get through the day. I had such a huge range of emotions, fear, anger, guilt (oh, the guilt) but my DLC family helped us so much that day and the days that followed. So I just wanted to say :thankyou2: to you all.

I would like to send an extra shout out to Amy who answered my million questions and was both my rock and my tree of knowledge. :bighug:

A year later and my #1 Sausage is doing great. I still have guilt and fear (that it might happen again), but I am also enjoying every day with Poges as the gift that it is. Well, not so much at 4:30 a.m. when he decides he wants breakfast, but even then, I still wouldn't trade him in.

Here is Pogo this morning. A year after his surgery at the University of Guelph.

The great black and tan hunter stalks his prey, for the ever elusive piece of kibble that fell from the sky.

After feasting on his kill, the warrior retreats, yet still remains on high alert in case another kibble should emerge.

:awww: The black and tan hunter looks so great. I'm so glad that he's back hunting and keeping the Kharman household safe from renegade kibble. :rotfl::rotfl:

You can never know what might be, enjoy what is. :love98:

Very good advice!

Pogo looks awesome!! :hug99: I am glad he's doing so well. You never know when a piece of kibble might turn up, so it's good to stalk the kitchen on and off all day long

Is IVDD the "back thing?"

Is IVDD the "back thing?" Yes, Pogo was completely paralyzed from mid-back down. We went to bed and he was fine, woke up and he was dragging his back end.

I know how you feel! Jack went down August 30; no bladder or bowel control, no back leg movement, but his tail wagged. After pred, muscle relaxants, pain meds, and the work of a wonderful holistic vet (acupuncture and VOM), he's doing GREAT! I took him back yesterday for a "tune-up," and the vet was thrilled, as am I. I was fearing surgery August 30 - today Jack's probably 98% back to his "old" self. Very happy Pogo is doing so well -- (didn't mean to hijack your thread, sorry.)

I'm with you Lisa...that was so devastating to me...I don't even like to think about it.
I'm glad Pogo is doing good--he looks awesome. Gunners one year will be February 7...he is doing good-we have our up and down days..but he is a trouper and doing good.

He's just gorgeous :hearts: It wonderful to see him so happy and healthy and all kibble stalk-y :rotfl: It's been 6 1/2 yrs since Charlie's back surgery and I still worry every day. But now that he's older and blind he doesn't jump, prefers to wait for me to carry him. Oscar, on the other hand, is the cause for many gray hairs...
