Woke up at 7. Let the dogs out. Put a new comforter on the bed at 7:15 when I made the bed. Took a shower. Blow dried my hair and did my makeup. Went into the bedroom at 8.

I don't know if Santa is coming for that dog this year.

You don't understand: the dog had to leave his scent on the comforter... and how else did you expect the dog to do it??? :rotfl::rotfl: Sorry!

Consider it Dachshund blessed this festive time of year.

I guess I'd take the piss over the bite marks I found on my new down comforter this fall. Not to mention feathers all over....

Hope it fits in your washing machine.

I went to the plain white comforter with a duvet cover years ago because of that problem. I make the covers with a extra thick top so that the pee doesn't go thru that fast :rotfl::rotfl: Also, it's easier to wash them that way

Is 45 minutes a new doxie land-speed record?

Yeah, I get that kind of nonsense on an almost daily basis. I've got the culprits pinned down to Ivan and Eddie, and they are escorted out of the bedroom right away, and I pee, and then come back and there is still a spot on the bed. *sigh* Sucks. Since I don't make the bed right away, it only hits the sheets but it's still a pain.

Sorry that happened to you. Years ago, when I had the same problem, I asked my vet if maybe Cleo and/or Taffy had a medical problem because they didn't normally pee in inappropriate places and the vet said that like carpet, there is something in the stuffing of comforters that attracts pets and they think they are outside. After that, I didn't have stuffed anything in my house except for their toys.

Then a couple of years ago, I gave in and got a really gorgeous comforter and sure enough, either Juney or Trixie baptized it and continue to baptize it every once in awhile. :sosad:

They like to lay in bed while we're home during the day, but Paul keeps them locked out of the bedroom because this issue comes up now and again. I always thought it was mean to lock them out, but now I see his point.

I just can't believe it was accomplished in 45 minutes of opening the package.

It was Butters. I can tell. He's been so cute today, giving me the big wide eyes. When paul came home from work, he started shaking and wouldn't look at him. Gave himself away.

Fortunately, it's Butters, so I must forgive him this one indiscretion, as he's good 99% of the time.

We're having the same problem. Trixie's not allowed on the bed now. :sosad:

Christmas morning, Paul woke up to a puddle on his side of the bed. Same new comforter. He told Butters last night that if we woke up in pee today, Butters would be a dead man walking.

Butters spent the night with me between himself and Paul from the time Paul said that until we woke up this morning.:rotfl: No pee, but it was the old comforter, as the new one was still drying.

Can I take back a comforter because my dog can't stop peeing on it?:rotfl:

If they let you do that, let me know. Then I'll try to take back the wireless mouse receiver with the chewed cord for one less tasty to dogs.

:rotfl: They should be sympathetic to our plight!

Bummer! Too bad they don't make pee-resistant comforters. Luckily our bed is too high for any dog to climb upon, unless I assist. No peed comforters, thank goodness. They're so old, I wouldn't care too much anyway. So sorry about your new one!!! :hug99: (BTW, don't be too sure it was Butters! I would have bet a LOT of money that Jack was occasionally pooping in the hallway for YEARS, until I recently caught Lexie doing it. Fooled me!)

I feel your pain, anatresia! I got a new, deluxe pillow-top mattress after 10 years using the old one. OF COURSE, the first thing Bob Barker did was pee a HUGE big circle in the middle of it. Couldn't be angry at him because DH isn't too easy to wake up & Bobby can't get off bed by himself. I wasn't home....sooooo....Yes, a ramp would be wonderful if I just had room enough for it (sigh).

I put the new comforter on the bed again last night. Told him, "DO NOT PEE ON THE BED." Ari then pounded the concept home by repeating it 100 times to him.

He still did it. So every time this new comforter is on the bed, he pees on the bed. What do I do??? I'm ready to lock him out of the bedroom, which I'm sure he won't enjoy.

I think I'll spray it with the doggie urine smell remover stuff and see if that helps.

I think it is the smell from the first time is encouraging him. I have a nice down comforter (dry clean only) that one of the pups peed on. I paid it out on a table and poured Nature's Miracle on that spot and let it air dried. First of all it got rid of the stain and the smell. And they have not peed on it. Yet.

How about the spray on scotch guard stuff? My couch, which is old and comfy now, was scotch guarded from the factory. My gf son christened it for me, and it just wiped off and was as good as new. Just a thought.

I have found 3 little mini puddles on the floor in the livingroom in the last two days. I know the obvious culprit would be Molly, but she is regularly going on the pee pads. I don't think she is doing it. Might have to set up a camera, lol.

Rigby was sleeping with Ari during two of these incidents, so she's actually off the hook. This time.:rotfl:

I have to ask is the comforter real down? We had issues with Rocky and down, and was told it's because he smells/ views it as another animal.

I forgot to tell you that when I had a problem, I washed my comforter with soap and put a cup of "Simple Solution" in the bleach dispenser. I then left the comforter wet for awhile (so the enzymes can work), then dried it in the dryer. I never had a problem again. You can probably use any of the products for urine odor removal (those that have the enzymes that eat urine, that is). Good luck.

I agree with Faye. Definitely use the enzyme cleaner. I did mine differently. I put the cleaner on the left it on overnite and then washed the comforter. It seemed to work.

I have that solution. I'll throw it in with the comforter today and cross my fingers.

The vet suggested (they had their annual today- no problems other than this) that I put the old comforter on the bed, too- that it might be a separation thing, as he had that comforter since he was a puppy. We have a spare one, though, that I put on when I want a change, and it seems to be pee-free, so I suspect it's this particular one.

Outstanding idea!! Yeah, you MUST get all the smell out (which they can smell and we can't) or it will just invite the pee-er to come back and do it again. Or just keep them out of the bedroom -- that's always an option, and many have to do that.

Fourth time, and I did use simple solution. We're going to try to exchange the comforter for a different style. He didn't do this on the last two comforters, so I think it's this particular one. I hope they take it back. I don't have the receipt (because who returns a comforter.) I'm going to show them how it's ripped and explain that it ripped in the wash and it's only two weeks old. I'm not going to mention it's been washed four times. Even still, my old one was washed 1000 times before it broke (we have allergies and wash it weekly in the summer.) So it is a craptastic comforter anyway because it shouldn't rip in the second or third washing, especially with a big high efficiency washer.

Wish me luck, lol.

I did! I have a gift card now, lol. Much better than doing the bedding laundry every day!

Butters is sucking up like a madman since then.:rotfl:
