I had to send my German Shepherd girl to the Bridge today.

When I got her off of death row last year, her legs were pretty wobbly. 2 days ago they finally gave out. Although she would still let me pick her up and move her, her appetite seemed to go also.

She was estimated to be 15 years old, so it was time.

The vet I used to work for was very kind and gentle with her, and stroked her as she took her last breaths. It was fairly peaceful.

Now she is at the Bridge with my grandmother looking after her, and cooking up a storm until I join her.

I will miss her nosy self plopping down in the middle of the kitchen while I tried to fix dinner around her. But she did like to be in the middle of things. A definite character.

"Good night, sweet prince(ss),
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

A misquoted Hamlet

RIP big girl:candle4: At least she was loved for a year, by you...She probably ended up in the shelter cause of her legs...

She was actually picked up as a stray in Los Angeles. Which means that some creep dumped her on the streets knowing that she had bad legs.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You probably gave her the best year of her life, and I know you did the most loving final act you could have ever done. I'm so sorry, but I'll bet Mia thanks you!

I am so sorry for the hurt in your heart, but so happy that her last year was in paradise with you, wonky legs and all.

Mia was so lucky you came into her life. She knew what true love and happiness was with you. She'll come bounding over the Rainbow Bridge to meet you! Bless you!

I do wish we had more time together. She was such a funny girl. But I'm so glad we had her for the time we did. Would not have traded her for anything.

It's funny how some of them get to you in a short time.
