My parents had three dogs. Their dalmatian died last week. Their chocolate lab- my dog when I lived at home- is doing really poorly and they don't know if he's going to make it today. He's not walking or eating. He, also, has been on a steady decline. He's just under 14.
I would ask for healing rayz, but at this point, I think he just needs rayz that what's meant to be, happens. Maybe he needs to go, to stop suffering. I wish they had longer life spans, but almost 14 is really great for a big dog and he was loved and had a good life.
I can't imagine how my parents are going to deal with two losses in a week. And how their third dog (the oldest- a shepherd lab mixed breed) is going to handle being alone.:sosad: It's just so sad.
ETA- they woke up this morning and found he'd passed peacefully in his sleep. He was my "Butters" when I lived at home- the sweet, good natured boy dog that was constantly velcroed to my side. I am so sad that he's gone. :candle: My parents are miserable- two dogs in a week.
I put the idea into my mom's head of rescuing a dachsie to keep her third and final dog company. She can't even think about it right now, but in a few weeks, we'll talk.
