My vet's orthopaedist (I think I butchered the spelling...ooops) recently had to put her beloved 15 year old doxie to sleep. She mentioned to Dr. Yarrow that she would really like to rescue one but didn't know what rescue or how to contact, etc. So Dr. Yarrow said, "I have just the person with the answer!" Enter, me. I'm compiling a list of doxie rescues and have included the following. If you know of others that I'm missing and have a contact person, please let me know. My vet must think highly of this person because she is very much like me: Highly cynical and isn't a big fan of humans. ;)

Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue
DRNA
Gulf Coast Dachshund Rescue
Dachshund Rescue of Houston
Central Texas Dachshund Rescue

Thanks!! :hug99:

Yay her!!! :appl::appl:

There's quite an extensive list on the sticky in this forum...http://www.doxielovers.com/dlc/showthread.php?t=46 which should give her lots to choose from!

That's awesome! My first suggestion is go to Petfinder.com (http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?animal_type=&pet_breed=dachshund&location=06518&distance=0) and check out all that are available in your area and beyond. Sadly there is no shortage of dachshunds that need a great forever home. Yay to her for wanting a dachshund in her life. :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3:

I have to stay off Petfinder. I love him.

Thanks so much! :hug99: My vet is awesome...she supports rescue and is always asking us when we are going to foster again. :)
