Jax jumped off the bed today (2feet high at the most) instead of using the ramp (brilliant move). He yelped when he landed. He's walking ok, but he's not as active as usual. Going to keep him on crate rest for the next few days & we'll go to the vet if we need to. This is just what I needed right now....

Oh no!! Hope its not serious. Good idea for the crate rest, hope he's okay. Sending tons of :bigrayz:

Lots and lots of rayz for Jax. :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: Pixel is not himself the past two mornings and I am really worried that it is his back acting up as well. I agree it could just be that he landed wrong and is sore. Crate rest is a good idea. :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz:

Maybe he's just reacting to what going on in the house?

Update:it's definitely his back. He doesn't pass the "toe test" with wither back foot. I have in a crate with me at work and we have a 9 am vet appointment. I tried to go straight to the surgeon, but they are full for today. If intake him to the regular vet first, they can call him in to the surgeon as an emergency & then he can get in today. So that's what we're going to do. I will update here when I can. For some reason the mobile app on my phone isn't working so updating here is harder. I can get to FB from my phone & I will ask someone there to post here when I know more.

Thank y'all for the rays and support.

P.S. I told John what was going on and he said "I don't blame you for Jax getting hurt, but I do think this happened bc he's been playing with other dogs lately.....". I don't have time to deal with John today.

OH FOR DOG'S SAKE .

That's right, if your dog has a back injury, NO PLAYING WITH OTHER DOGS. :wtf: In fact, better just lock him in a closet for the rest of his life.

Jax update: He's at the surgeon's office getting imaging done to see how much pressure is being put on his spinal cord. if there's not much (fingers crossed) then we can treat with crate rest & meds. If there is a lot of pressure then they take him straight into surgery & I have 2 days to come up with $2500-$3500. I'm just waiting on the phone call. I will post when I know more. Thank y'all for the love & support.

Sorry for the late update. I was life guarding a little girl's birthday party. Gotta make money any way I can these days....

Dr. Caplan called. I missed it because I was working, but she left me a long message. She said that Jax did beautifully in surgery. Also said that she removed a LOT of disc and that this was something that had obviously been building. Not something that just happened because he jumped off the bed.....

If I'm lucky, I can pick him up from her office on Saturday morning, and therefore avoid paying to have him stay at the e-vet Saturday night. He did super well with recovery last time, so I'm very hopeful that he can come home on Saturday.

As for the final bill, I'm still working on that. I put down $500 today, and John put down $300. I got a $500 advance from work to pay when I pick him up. Last time his bill was $2500. If this time is somewhere near there, then I've got to come up with roughly $1200. John is expecting a big check from some work we did about 6 weeks ago, but I don't know for certain when it will get here. That would cover the rest, but again, the timing is a little uncertain. I'm going to worry about the money as I have to. All I know, is that I was NOT going to not have Jax in my life due to finances.

That's all I have for now. I'm going by the surgical place tomorrow morning at 9 am when I get off work and I'm going to visit Jax & see if I can get a better estimate on the final bill. I will update after I see him.

Thank you all again for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers.
