Rikka has to have a few molars pulled and a few others scraped to the roots tomorrow. The problem is she has about 50% bone loss (BECAUSE I didn't take care of her teach like I should have!) and her jaw are so thin and tiny we (the vet and I) are concerned about the possibility of having her jaw break in the process. I am really scared about this, but the teeth HAVE to come out because of the deep pockets through to the underneath of the molars.

Oscar is my funny clown, Axel is my sweet little lover boy, but Rikka is my heart. I have loved her the most since the day I held her terrified little body in my arms (another story), and she wouldn't let go of me for a week.

Tomorrow is the International Day of Prayer, so any of you who believe please add her to your prayers. Everyone else send good thoughts to the universe.

I love her so much.

Are you having it done by a specialist? Lexie has a badly cracked molar, and I have to take her to a dentist for doggies to have it removed. She's 14 and I want to keep her going; my vet won't even touch it because of her age, plus she has a heart murmur. I'd sure take Rikka to a specialist if you can!! Lots of good-visit :bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz: for your furkid!

I would also recommend a veterinary dental specialist. Bogart had some fairly extensive work done at 14 by a "doggie dentist" and did very well. He was expensive, but great!

YES, Dr. Williams is a vet dental specialist and a really nice guy. And YES it is expensive. THAT and the pain she has gone through is what makes me brush her teeth EVERY NIGHT now (all three of the doggies get it and are starting to enjoy the attention and treat afterward).

Rikka is home and tuckered out. All she's taken so far is a few sips of water. I will be keeping a close eye on her for the next couple of days. Doc said everything went well and she goes back in a couple of weeks for a checkup and stitches out.

She's on a fentanyl patch, morphine shot before leaving the clinic and then rimadyl tomorrow morning. Hopefully, this will keep her comfortable.

Thank you all for your best wishes for her (and me). I was a mess today.
