Crap :( I guess we didn't have enough going on with Rafi....

Pixel is having a backisode, we think. He is yelping when we touch him and is starting to hunch. Brought him into the vet, she agrees, but it is too early to tell because his walking is not impaired, but we are treating as an IVDD issue. He is on Metacam and Tramadol.

Wow, that is weird!

Poor little dude. Maybe he could just stay in his crate for the month next year.

Oh darn! Poor Pixel. It seems the Canada Day fireworks plus Rafi stress may be getting too much for the little one? Gotta put those 2 boys together in the same convalescent bed for a long rest. Sending lotsa healthy rayz for both of da boyz :bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz:

We are not 100% sure it is his back yet, but with his history, it is a good bet. He has been squeaky the past few days when we picked him up, but this morning was more...horrible pain sound. He is reluctant to go out the door (over the metal of the sliding part) and he does these things called spin-a-roonies after he tinkles he races in and does tight circles waiting for a treat. He has not been doing that for about 3 days.

He is not down-down yet, but he always starts off this way. "is something wrong with Pix?" "hmmm, does he off to you" and then bam, we are here. I am going to look into laser therapy this round.

Rafi is no better. We are starting day 3 of rice for him. I have given him fish and a bit of beef, but nothing else. And we are doing 5 small meals a day.

I know it is hard to do, but did he do just liquid diet first? In a hospital setting here, they would make him NPO (nothing by mouth) to let his guts rest and heal. And then would progress to clear liquids, and then full liquids.

Lisa

He would do pretty much anything to stop the pain and bleeding. :sosad:

He goes to see an gastroenterologist on July 22nd. We will totally ask him about this!!! Thank you

Lisa, We are having a very potent full moon in the sign of Capricorn. The sign of Capricorn rules skin, teeth and BONES. Also, it is a perigee full moon, meaning that it is very close to the earth. A "Double whammy" as we astrologers call it. Effect of this should be about two to three more days. Very probable this is what is affecting Pixel.
Can't type more right now. My tremor is terrible!!

Thanks Candy! We still aren't sure if it is has back...you might be on to something, could be bone / nail we just don't know.

He is calm and resting well (that in itself is unusual).

We are not doing what we should be doing. Since he squeals when he is picked up, we are letting him walk out to to the bathroom and then back into his crate. I do see a little issue on his left back leg so that is the one I am watching like a hawk.

How is Pixel feeling today, and Rafi too?

Lisa
07-14-2014, 10:56 AM
Pixel is okay, he was wagging his tail this morning and came out of his crate no problem. He is still "off" but totally not fully down. I see more issues on his left side..but really, if I wasn't a doxie mom I don't even know if most people would notice.

I have not tried to pick him up since Saturday. Whatever is going on, lifting him causes pain. He is whiny in the crate, but otherwise in good spirits.

Assuming he stays as is, I am going to keep him on the pain meds for a few more days. Try lifting him on Thursday and see where we are at.

His pee and poop are normal, his appetite is normal, his vocalness is normal...so we are doing okay. Taking one day at a time.

Pixel is still doing good. We are just tuning him out :sosad: He is quite vocal even when he is 100%, so crate time makes him somewhat unbearable to live with. But he is not IN pain, he is just BEING a pain. :conf4: Sigh, and we are only in week one.

I have already started to taper him off the the tramadol, and am monitoring his pain level.

It's good to hear that Pixel is doing well. :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3:

Bad for you and Rafi that he's so LOUD.

If Cash ever had to be on crate rest, he'd be the same way. He's also vocal and demanding at normal times. I can't imagine what he'd be like if he was crated.

Sending deafness and sanity :bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz: for you both.
