And posting under back issues.
Ugh.

Savannah isn’t acting right - last night she didn’t want to use the steps to get in bed, and after I put her in bed she woke me up a few hours later to get down and go out to potty.

She’s always been a very athletic gal, and I fear it’s to the detriment of her health. She turned 7 on May 1, so still a young girl...

She’s peeing and pooping and eating and drinking, tail wagging as per usual, but I was in the kitchen earlier and she was reluctant to stand on her hind legs and put her front paws on my leg, so I’m worried. She loves ear scratches and that’s how she tells me she wants em.

Bless. Resting comfortably, but Brian closes at noon tomorrow. I’m going to try to restrict her activity and keep a close eye on her. Prayers, thoughts, and magical rayz are coveted.

Oh geez, Rae!! She's just at the age where back troubles start to show up. :sosad: Sending tons of back :bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz: and just as many :hug99::hug99::hug99:.(7 years already :holysheep: How the heck did that happen???) Can you get her into see Brian today?

Yeah, easiest way I could tell with Angel is she wouldn't jump into my lap when I sat down on the floor, just sort of hopped an inch or two with her front paws. Sending rayz for SJ!!! ~~~~~~

I’m not sure how she got to be 7, either, Paula. Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess!

She’s acting perfectly normal this morning, barking her head off at a chipmunk (or possibly ground squirrel) from her post on the back of the couch...

How do people live without dogs? And I mean why would anyone want to? The love of a good doggie is priceless.

If i took her to see Brian, I’m betting he will say anti inflammatory and crate rest as much as possible... which I can do... she’s also licking her butt so I bet she’s having anal gland issues.

Disc issues tend to get worse before they get better, if she is acting like herself, it might not be a disc but yes, 7 is the right age for the degeneration to start so it could be. I can't believe she is already 7. Wow! Did she maybe tweak something on the 4th with the fireworks? Or is she indifferent?

Sutton was home before me on Thursday night and he said she was ok... I stayed for the fireworks two doors down (which is 1/2 a mile here). I’m sure she ran around and barked at them, but she doesn’t get scared...

IDK Lisa. I just hope she’s ok. Acting perfectly fine now.

As someone who has been through this more than her fair share, if she is acting fine today, I don't think it is her back. Day one is exactly how you described for a leak, something is off but you can't quite pinpoint it. However, day two there is NO question. It is usually all bad. That doesn't mean don't bring her in for a blood work check to make sure all is good in SJ's world, just if she is acting normal, that is awesome! Sending just in case rayz.

I wonder if she's pulled a shoulder muscle? A couple of times over the years I've thought back stuff was going on, but turned out it was muscular. Lisa's right...she'd be getting progressively worse with IVDD. :crossfin: that it's something else!!! Tons more :bigrayz::bigrayz::bigrayz: and :bighug:. These guys are such a worry!!

How the heck did I miss this?????

I agree that it could be muscular. I thought Miller was having back issues at one point. When I took him in, it turned out to be a pulled muscle in his back leg which still required restricted movement for a few weeks. In my experience, Lisa is right. It doesn't disappear on day 2. I'd go with the restricted movement anyway. It's not going to hurt.

Id say it is muscular. If she could twist to lick her bottom, her back is probably ok. If your back hurts, you cannot twist into a pretzel.

Thanks everyone for your two cents. As you know the only experience I have is with Duchie, and she had so many issues it’s tough to sort.

Savannah is a flying sausage and I have to break her of that! It’s so dang hard, because she’s the most... exuberant creature I’ve ever known. Happy happy happy and overflowing with energy. Tail wags constantly.

She still seems fine, and you know I’m watching her like a Doxie watches a squirrel!
