View Full Version : Its not good

Heidi and I just got back from the vet. He did a needle aspiration, and its not good. There are abnormal cells. He didn't send anything out for a biopsy. He wants to remove them asap. I am getting another opinion frm the vet we took Ben to...they are very good and will take very good care fo Heidi. I trust them mroe than the current vet but because they were always very good to Ben. I"m waiting to hear back from them now. This vet wants to get her in "right away" to remove both lumps, biopsy them etc. Ben's vet said they would biopsy them first (which kinda makes more sense to me). Either way, this is not good and I am totally freaking out now. I'm trying to stay calm for Heidi, but I just had a gut feeling about this. I'm glad I went with my gut. I can' type anymore...I iwll post an update when I can.

awwwwww Fluff... (((((hug))))) here's hoping all will be well soon. You are a GREAT mommy and I know you will take good care of her. You always have.

(ITA with the 2nd opinion... esp since it is the vet who was so good with Ben)

Hang in there Fluf. :gphug1: :gphug1: and :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz:

BTW, you are right you need to keep a positive attitude especially for Heidi, if you are depressed and sd tehn she will know it and pick up on the sadness herself.

Go with your gut feelings remember we are here anytime you need any of us.

Oh Bex! I know it's hard, but you're doing the right thing trying to keep it together for Heidi's sake. ITA with the 2nd opinion...it makes much more sense to get a biopsy, and then operate, especially at her age! And believe me, if it is cancer, it can be beaten!!! Alex is living proof of that...4 years later and she's doing great (and she was Heidi's age when she had her operation)! A million :hug99: :hug99: and :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: for both of you! We're here when you need us!!!

WHOOO HOOOO PAULA- thanks for the "been there done that and lived through it" testimonial. Esp. since Alex was older when she was ill.

I'm so sorry it didn't turn out better....But getting the second opinion is very smart. :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz: that it's nothing serious.

Actually, it's happened with both my girls...Maxe was even older (almost 12) when she was diagnosed with a sarcoma in her left lung (and before anyone asks, no, I don't smoke, and neither did she! LOL)...at that tender age she had the lobe of her lung removed (one of the longest weeks of my life!!!), and lived to be 15, and it wasn't cancer that ended her life (it was actually cardiomyopathy)... It ain't easy (or cheap :)) but it can be done!

:imsorry: Becca, you and Heidi will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Doing a needle aspirate tells you what you are up against, the removal and biopsy tells you for sure.

Thank you guys for all the rayz and prayers. I just got off the phone w/ the "good" vet, and due to my insane work schedule and their appointments available, I will be taking her in as a walk in. I probably will not be able to get there until next Weds which stinks to have to wait that long, but at least I know they will see her. As soon as I hear anything, I will make sure to let you guys know. Thanks again for everything. I'm so lucky to have a second family like you all.

ugh. Ignore my other post.

Don't you get sick days, child? I think you look very under the weather and you might be contagious (cough cough, hack hack, yack yack)

:tissue:

how far is this vet? Got wheels?

Fluffy
05-16-2006, 03:36 PM
I sure do get sick days...but I have no one to cover...every store in our district is understaffed, including mine. I have a girl in training now, and my other girl can't cokme in before 330 b/c she's still in high school. The vet is an hour away, in Gettysburg...so that makes it a tad difficult too. :(

Try to stay calm, Bex. Amanda had the same thing happen. A fatty lump that she had had for ages started growing. It was cancerous and they had to remove it. She was 13 (I think) and I was really leary of having surgery on her. My vet did the blood work and said it looked really good and to go ahead and have the surgery. I had a specialist do the surgery (my vet doesn't do major surgery) and everything went fine. I was supposed to keep her quiet for 2 weeks and I figured 13 yo dog just had surgery, it'll be a piece of cake. It was for about 2 days, then I had to keep her crated or leashed to me to keep her from running around and doing some damage. Think positive and Heidi will do just fine. Sending rayz. :bigrayz: :bigrayz: :bigrayz:
