The person in charge of this at ebay is Lori Pretzer she is their Pet Supplies Category Manager.

She does want feedback here pretz@ebay.com Make the subject line "Live Pets Ad Format" so she knows its not Spam.

Personally I think no matter how well inentioned the idea is, it will lead to abused pets or puppy mill stock being exchanged.

OMG... I am reading the feedback. Most of it is quite rational (adoption ads = good, sale from BYBs/puppy millers = bad), but things are getting a little heated as some dimwit just posted "Dogs do not have souls... humans do." and there has also been some criticism of animal rights activists.

Arrrgggghhhh!!!

This is what I posted.

No matter how well intentioned this idea is, any Responsible pet owner will tell you that this is a bad idea.

Yes there will be honest people who will want to list pets, but most of those know the better alternatives of listing their pets and dont need Ebay.

Even the remote chance of One PuppyMill dog or an endangered animal like a Tiger, Snake, or Rare Bird which may have been aquired illegaly outweights any benefits honest people would get.

Ebay has been very good and responsible so far not to allow live animal listings, lets keep it that way.

I hope this idea didnt come from someone trying to work their way up the corporate ladder, just so they can buy a Luxury House and Car.

I think allowing this to go through would be very bad Judgment call on EBay.

Well done!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

What a horrible idea by Ebay. Hello, petfinder and others already do a good job. The ebay format would just encourage mills and BYB to place listings...(for the most part)

This has to be stopped... I am sending E-Bay's post to every large pet org I belong to for them to get on the 'bandwagon' and put a stop to this. Please do the same. Hopefully we will see this idea go down in flames. :mad1: :mad3:

Come on eBay, lets be smart about this! Sheesh.... Well, at least the person is asking for feedback...we can only hope that she will be smart enough to read it all and think about what she is doing!

I've just sent an e-mail about the petition to a friend who works with AFLAC, another who works for BLue Cross/BLue Shield and another who works for Total Systems TSYS - asking them to spread it through their companies! We'll get some signatures. WHen I'm through being totally pi&&ed off - I'll post on e-bay. Rightn ow, it might not be too nicely worded.
