Jax....again.....(update #12)
So I was in Austin this weekend & Julie & Jax were at my mom's. Nothing new, they stay with her all the time.
Mom calls me this morning to say that Jax is hunched up in his back sitting in the hallway (odd spot for him to pick). She said she did the "toe test" and got nothing. I told her to put him in his crate (I keep one at her house for this exact reason). I immediately left Austin and drove home.
Mom calls me back 5 minutes later and says that before she can get him in his crate, he gets up, walks himself to the kitchen & gets a drink of water
Ok, something's not adding up, but I'm in the car, can't do anything until I get there.
I get to her house about 3 hours later and he's in his crate, kinda hunched up again. Mom said that when he walked he flatten his back out, like it normally should be. She said she felt all over his back and got no response (i.e. crying from pain)...and Jax is my drama queen. So I do the "toe test", and he passes. I look at mom like :wtf2: and she (in all seriousness) says "well I only tried it on his front feet." Well, that explains that.
So, he does yelp when you touch his neck, off to one side. No reaction on the other side. I'm leaning towards a pulled muscle or pinched nerve on that side. If it's his back, it's got to be in his neck. We have the first vet appointment in the morning. I didn't think we needed to rush to the e-vet as he's resting comfortably in his crate right now. Will watch him closely and we'll go if I think he gets worse. I'm aiming for crate rest/prenizone/tramadoyl as a treatment. I'll update tomorrow.
Any spare rays for my baby boy would be appreciated. I know they work
