They helped him
Did you see on the news the story about 7 year old girl surviving a plane crash in KY? Such a tragic story. In one of the interviews the man who helped her said that his dachshunds (maybe it was just one dachshund) heard her knock as it was faint. He wouldn't have heard it otherwise.

3 miles from my house. I can't believe she found his house. That plane crashed in the sticks. To get to the crash site, you have to park then take a Gator or Mule in almost a mile THEN get in a 4-wheeler the rest of the way.
The NTSB just got here about an hour ago.

This is such a sad story. 3 miles is super close. Did SJ freak out?

So sad but what a brave little girl!! Hopefully some of her family survived? Too close, Rae. :hug99:

SJ did freak out - the sirens and then the outside dogs baying at the sirens made for a not-so-silent night around here. Everyone else in the plane died. Her mom and dad, sister and cousin. The dad owned a successful furniture store in Nashville, Illinois, and the family was coming back from Christmas vacation in Florida.
so far all we know is that he had reported engine trouble. It's really shaken our little community, even though they weren't from here. People are going to the scene with hot coffee and hot chocolate, etc for the emergency workers, which has turned into a crowd control issue. My friend Kathy who does Savannah's pictures lives out past there and as the road is closed for the day she can't get out unless a boat goes to get her (she lives on the lake), and who want to do THAT in January?
