We have three dogs remaining of the 52 Chi/Dachshund mixes that came to our shelter about a month ago. Two intact males and one pregnant female. All...

this kind of thing literally pains my heart. sorry if it offends any hunters out there. I just can't understand hunting in a society with copious amounts of food already. :(

I talked with the director of the shelter there today...they're hoping to adopt a lot of them out today since it's their busiest adoption day.

He said only 2 or 3 look like doxies, the rest are...

I haven't ordered one yet because last time I looked they were backed up a bit, but the ones at www.weenieinthewindow.com are totally adorable!!! :hearts:

I know if I stir the pot I will no longer be allowed to volunteer there...and that is an upsetting idea...my teenage son also volunteers there and LOVES it...
the thought of being unwelcome there...

No need to keep quiet. I feel the same way and that was the reason I started volunteering there...but quickly realized the problems were somewhat overwhelming and mostly based on people who have...

what an excellent idea!! I will get a list together of breed specific rescues that we could field out some dogs to...we usually have at least a half dozen labs and pit bulls at a time...shepherd...

It pisses me off...they're just so ugly about the whole thing when I mention the possibility of people fostering...

I could go on and on...but I think I've said enough...

As you probably know, I am a volunteer at my local Humane Society. I've been adopting dogs from there since I moved here to the Myrtle Beach area 10 years ago, and I could see they really needed...

It infuriates me that pigs use these dogs as a meal ticket, and the spectators use them as entertainment...it should be banned!!

Maybe you could try starting out with a raw chicken drummette instead...Pepper LOVES those...and that was her first raw food, and she had no sickness...
