Default "Get away from my house"

We got home just a little while ago, and after letting Cricket out the back door into the fenced in yard, I went to the front and started weeding my flowerbed while we waited for my daughter's bus. Our neighbor two doors down has a yellow pit/mutt mix dog (about 75lbs) who comes over and keeps me company when I'm outside. He also keeps the kids company at the bus stop. Cricket usually just barks and goes nuts inside when he sees this dog (I can't remember his name, but we call him Eddie). Eddie is still a puppy and sadly, he roams the neighborhood. I won't say he'd never hurt anyone, but I will say he's gentle around me and my kids (kids aren't allowed around him when I'm not there).

So, my son hollers that he's going inside to get him a drink. My daughter is just getting off of the bus. Cricket is barking up a storm inside - I didn't think quick enough. All I see is a red streak haul a$$ out the door and poor Eddie hauling even faster for home (he was right near out porch). Cricket's hair was all standing up and he had his "I'm a mastiff" voice on. I holler for him and he stops completely - right at the edge of our driveway while Eddie stands in his yard looking scared spitless. I scoop Cricket up and head inside. Scared the daylights out of me at first. Now, I have to chuckle at the 'wimpy' dogs my neighbor seems to get. His other dog was a Rotti (about 100lbs) that Cricket terrorized out of our yard many times.

Good job, Cricket - he did exactly what he was supposed to do!!! Even if he did scare the big dog out of his fur - Cricket did a great job! Maybe big dog will remember that next time.
