    Default Doggy perfume?

I know, I know... but I have to say that HRH has been smelling more doggy than usual. Yes its the normal doggie/frito smell, just more of it. Her bedding is getting smelly more frequently too. I dunno if this is a function of getting older or some sort of change??

She is in good health and I do not suspect any sickness to be the cause of this... it did not come on suddenly or anything,...

I used to use an little doggy cologne on her, and I dug it out and put some on last night after bathies. (smells like baby powder... yum...)

WHY would she be getting stinky?? It's not a huge pronounced stinkiness... just bigger stinky than I am used to for a little dog.

Cricket smells raunchy sometimes. Just down right foul. I find it's usually when it's really humid outside and he's been lounging in the dirt. If you dig in our yard, it smells real swampy (rotten eggs type thing) and that's what he smells like from time to time.

I use mango-madness 'Just As Fresh' between bath freshening spray on him. He hates it :D

Could it be the warm weather? I know moms dogs smell real funky in the summer time, especially after being outside a while...

Did I tell you that I CAN NOT smell? I can smell *something*, but not all. Could it be the weather? Now that it's warmer????

I thought that was their goal, to find something smelly, and smell like it, lol. I have a conditioner spray I got for the girls to help with itchy days, and it smells nice. Sort of liike frebreeze for dogs.

I notice that sometimes Daisy smells a little fishy, but that doesn't last. Who knows? They are such cute little mysteries. Probably something in what we feed them.

I think I read somewhere about putting a dryer sheet in their bedding and they absorb that odor, if they smell a little "riper" than usual. Good idea, IMHO.

Hmmm . . . no idea. About the only time mine smell is when they find something lovely to roll in, like a dead frog. :yuck: It could be something to do with her skin. Pebbles used to get a skin condition in the summer that made her stinky and itchy. Poor thing had to have a bath every morning just so we could stand her until the medicine kicked in.

    Default Hey Rae

have you checked her ears? If the smell is particularly musty, you might want to make sure her ears aren't getting yeasty.

Dudley can smell a little ripe after coming in from sitting in the hot sun. He doesn't really stink but he smells a little strong from being baked to long from the sun.

Rolling in something smelly is always a good reason. Doggie perfume will help temporarily. The usual things that cause odors are skin, tooth or gum disease, (maybe she developed a fissure), ears or anal glands. Maybe an ingredient was changed in her dog food. If none of these seem to be the problem, I guess the vet is the next step.

They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon
