Default I just don't get it...

I wonder why some people are so careless about their dogs that they claim to love so much! There is a lady I just met that has a doxie and a couple other dogs of different breeds and from what I understand she takes wonderful care of her dogs but I don't understand why some people let their dogs out in their yards without a leash, fence, electric fence or anything! How can you trust your dog to not stray whether it be a smelly trail or something else that catches their attention? Especially with doxies because they are hounds and love to sniff along!!! I would be so scared of them getting into the street or getting lost or some other aweful thing happening! Now I know I'm a worry wart but am I wrong on this? I just wouldn't trust my dog 100% like that!

No, you're not wrong. My impression is that those people "love" their dogs as long as it's not a big imposition on their lifestyle. But ask them - they'll tell you just HOW much they love their dogs!!! They should practice what they preach.

Nope, you're not wrong at all!!! Dachsies wander...it's what they do. (Well, any dog will if the right incentive comes along!!) A lot of people are plug ignorant and not really interested in being educated...until a tragedy strikes and then they invariable say "but he never left the yard before!!" :mad2:

People. Are. Stoopid. and you just can't fix stoopid.

Case in point - Chevy. "He knows not to chase cars" . They spent a fortune for vetting etc - but wouldn't neuter him or fix their already existing electronic fence.
