Sending tons of Texas Sized for Alex and a for you, Paula. :hearts: :hearts:
Adding more from our gang. Nothing worse than having to worry about our babies.
Just got off the phone from Laura...there's nothing new, just that everything that's wrong with her has gotten a lot worse in the last 6 months...her heart is really large and pushing on her lungs, hence the breathing problems. It's also quite congested and the murmur has gotten worse...now a 5. In addition to the fortekor that she's already on, Laura is putting her on a new heart drug for advanced heart disease. It's called Vetmedin, or the generic name is pimobandon... (Kim? know anything about this?) On the other side of her lungs, her liver has also gotten larger, and is under pressure, (and also pushing against the lungs) and she's showing signs of gallstones. We knew that she has "sludgy bile";she's on meds for that already, and sadly there's nothing more to be done for that! the only way to get rid of the gallstones is to operate, and she is not a candidate for surgery, as we know. Her liver values continue to climb, but they've been doing that for the last 8 years, so more of the same!! We're going to switch her from the i/d to a new low-fat meat, and I'm to watch her sodium intake (no more sharing mom's cheese or popcorn!!!!!).
So, the sad fact is that what I saw last night was just another big step downwards in the long decline that old age brings. But the good news is that there's no sign of cancer, and it's been 5 years since her op, so . She's still happy enough in herself, and seems to still enjoy her little life. She's a fighter, my old girl, so as long as she's happy, I'm happy!!!

I'm sending many, many of our DLC magical and :pray:ers for your little girl.
for you at this difficult time.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon
