    Question Ungrateful?????

I decided that I would set aside a bit of $$$ & once a month donate needed supplies to our local no-kill shelter here in town. Well, I took 10 bags dog food, 10 bags cat food, 5 bags kitty litter, 6 gals, bleach & a 12-pack paper towels down there yesterday. I wasn't expecting a huge "thank you" or anything; after all it's for the animals, not the people. However, this is what I got. The woman behind the counter said "just throw the stuff in the corner there". She didn't look up from what she was reading & didn't say "thanks" or acknowledge the donation in any way. I just quietly left & thought "well, maybe they really don't need donations". Or maybe they do & she was just a rude, ungrateful you know what! Just a small thank you would have been nice.I'm now thinking maybe the set-aside $$$ will just be sent to doxie rescue, instead. Am I wrong to be a little upset???

I don't think you are wrong at all! And since she didn't say it, I will for all the animals you helped!

You are not wrong at all to feel the way you do! That was so nice and generous of you...the least that lady could have done was to say thank you. Grrrrrr!!! I'm sure the animals at the shelter will appreciate your contribution!!!!

Geez...I'd be upset too. That is beyond rude....that was such a wonderful thing you did, to put aside money and go buy the stuff and bring it to them.!

Been there many times. As stressful as working at a shelter can be at times a little customer service goes along way. The furkids in the back are sorry the person up front is a poody head and they say thank you very much for caring about us.

I agree with the sentiments of everyone else. You have every right to be upset about being treated that way. The very least she could've done was acknowledge your presence, she didn't even give you the respect of eye contact!

I, too, would like to give you a huge THANK YOU on behalf of all the furkids you helped at that shelter. The lady up front was too much of a jerk to say it, but the thanks is in their eyes when they see that food coming and when their sleeping quarters are cleaned. You are a very kind hearted person! What you have done has touched my heart and inspired me as well! :hearts:

I would call ahead and ask if they take donations....or do they have a wish list of things they need

BIG I'd be peeved too...what I usually do in situations like that (which come up far more often than one would think...) is say VERY sweetly into the silence where the "thank you" SHOULD have been: "Oh, you are SO welcome...glad to do it!" They usually get the point...

I actually did call ahead to see if they needed donations & the person on phone said they "desperately" needed dog & cat food. I guess the person at the desk was just a jerk!
