    Default -2, +1!

Well it's been a pretty good weekend. I got the news last night that a great home visit had been done for a couple near Houston. They wanted two dogs and were very interested in Conan and Cheri. They wanted to know if they could get them today - YES! So I drove halfway to Houston and met them. They are the NICEST people and have a dachshund-ready house with tons of ramps and toys. Conan and Cheri deserve this and they will be so spoiled - I couldn't be happier.

Also yesterday, I got a new foster, Rumples. He's a 1 year old red piebald with a TERRIBLE case of demodex mange. We took him in from a VET TECH who said she couldn't afford to treat him. It's criminal that a vet (her boss) saw this dog and did not treat him. Here's what he looked like when he came into rescue on Jan. 4.

    He is already MUCH improved.

He is the sweetest little boy and doesn't even weigh 9 lbs.

He needs to gain weight but he will still be a mini.

He is on meds and needs a bath daily or every other day...

I felt so bad bathing him because he just shivers! He has no hair. He is also RAW and he feels so hot, even though he is shivering. He just wants to snuggle with me. I know he feels so bad.

Here he is in his little "Cosby" sweater!

That is just awful--way out of hand. Gunner had one spot and I took him to the vet.
Here are rays for this little cutie.

Poor little Rumples. :( He has such a sad but very loving face.
Sending healing for a speedy recovery. I know he will do very well in your care.

to Conan, Cheri and their new hooparents. I'm thrilled to hear they were adopted together.

Good job Courtney! Sending lots of happiness to all.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

    for Conan and Cheri!!!!

Oh gosh how could a Vet Tech let him get so bad? That is just wrong! I'm so glad he is doing better. He's a cute one for sure.

awww the poor baby. He has such a sad look to him (reminds me of Cowboy who still after 2 years stilll has that sad look)

I want to pick him up and give him sooo many hugs and kisses. I am glad that you took him in, and sham on the vet tech and the vet for not treating him.

I am sure he will find a wonderful home, he is a handsome guy, and I love the Cosby sweater!!
