    Default Smile!

I don't know if this is the right section for this, but do daxies smile/grin?

When Jack gets excited he bares his teeth like he's grinning (no growling tho). So is that a smile/grin or am I just being silly?

Some dogs "smile". My mom's dalmatian does and I used to dogsit a golden that did. It's intimidating if you don't know they're "smiling"!

I tried to teach all of my dogs to smile, but that Dalmatian was the only one that ever figured it out. My two now just like at me like, "go to hell."

(And this area is fine for this question. Or "mixed bag" maybe.)

Silly Mom - I would call that a grin myself.

:duh: :duh: You're right, it must be a grin! He does it all the time as he's clamoring to get onto my lap! What a sweet boy, I just :love9: him!

    Thanks Yolanda

I think that they do; a happy, secure dog has a very relaxed open expression that looks just like a human smile

None of my Doxies ever smiled. I did pick up a stray lab mix once, and she gave me a big smile.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

I knew a lab that would smile on command! It was soooooo cute! When John saw this, he wanted to teach Piper to smile on command, but it ain't happening.

We definitely need a picture of Jack smiling to fully assess this situation! :D

Our crazy boy Jax smiles all the time....literally. If he's not smiling, I almost want to take him to the vet to see what is wrong!

Could you post a picture of Jax smiling? Not only is he an adorable boy (all your kids are sweet), but Jax has such beautiful coloring! I'd like to see a doxie smile. I swear Jack grins at me!
