    Default Sore Throats

Teak started coughing last weekend, so Monday, off to the vet for a determination of slight temp and red throat. He has a sore throat. (Probably from extra barking at the fireworks and the cold temps and the air dryness).
So a shot of antibotics and cough meds and home with meds (antibotic and cough med). Last night Stomper started coughing, so in e went. He has a red throat also. Seems that like in people, they can get them and share them, but usually do not show any sign. Watching everyone else and hoping they do not catch it. Hubby bringing home a cool mist vaporizer so I can get some humidity into the house for them. Tried the water on the stove things, but they need cool wet, not hot wet. Probably would help my sinuses also.
Been giving them low salt, organic chicken broth cut with water. And water with a couple of drops of lemon juice.
    Any other ideas out there?

Has the extra humidity helped? It has been cold and dry here. It is static city in our house. Much to the delight of Rafi who seems to get tremendous joy in shocking me.

Sorry I missed this thread, is Teak all better now?

Looks like we all missed it. Looks like you did okay without our help!

It is a good topic... I don't know what to do other than increase the moisture in the house. Cassie had some throat irritation for about a day after her spay, probably from the anesthetic.

How in the world did I miss this also? I also click on "today's posts" so as not to miss anything... I'm hoping Teak is doing better. What about Stomper? Is he better also?

Me too :embarrassed: A few just in case though!

It does get dry in winter, esp. with the wood stove, which is a very dry heat. I don't know what kind of heating system you have, but if it's forced hot air, you can put bowls of water on top of the vents and that'll help too. And of course, if you want to spend the money, you can always get a humidifier.

    Default Sore Throats - Update

Teak and Rascel are better now, but Stomper is not.
I am sorry, I can not go on. Will try to post later. Can not see thru the tears falling.

What's the matter, Southwind? Do you think he'll not make it through this? Don't despair. What does the vet say?
