    Default Makes me sad

A local no-kill group in my area sent out an email about a lost dachshund/basset hound mix. She was half of a bonded pair who had recently been adopted. When the new owners took them out for a walk, something spooked Mable and she ran and ripped the leash out of her owner's hand.

I sent out an email to many of my animal-loving friends in the area; one of whom also passed it along to others. Sadly, one emailed back saying she thought she saw the dog in the very area she had gone missing but it wasn't a happy ending. :( As much as I hope that the dog this lady saw wasn't Mable, there were too many similiarities in her description for it not to have been.

I passed along her email to the shelter and am waiting to hear back. I'm hoping that it wasn't Mable and there is still a chance for a happy ending but my gut tells me that isn't so. And my heart hurts. :sad1:

I just heard back from Animals for Life and they have had several possible Mable sightings in the owners' neighborhood over the last few days and are following up on those leads...I'm hoping that the poor doggy Jan's friend saw isn't Mable...and even still, it's so sad for whoever that little guy/girl was. :(

Please keep a good thought that Mable is found safe and sound...and I'll keep y'all updated. Thanks!!

More for the safe return of Mable.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

Has there been any news on this pup? I pray they've been reunited... I know how hard it is.
