Default Sammy and the Happy Tail Syndrome

Got a phone call from DH telling me he had an emergency situation, that Sammy's tail was bleeding "profusely," and he wanted to know which vet to take him to (that just shows how much interest he takes on the welfare of the dogs, since he does not even know where their vet is located). I tried to explain to him where he had to go, but he can't grasp the concept of addresses and directions, so I told him to just go to a vet he saw on his way home.

Of course I left work to go there too, as I know DH only too well... he kept telling me how much blood there was all over the house.

Well, Sammy has the "happy tail syndrome" and he wacks his tail all around so much that one day something has got to give, and it did. He has some bandaging around the tip of his tail, and goes back to the vet to check on it on Monday. He's not happy with the bandage, and I think I'll have to put a cone on his head... poor boy.

As for the house, yes, there was some blood on the walls (which are washable) and on the floor, which is tile and easy to clean, but nothing like "bleeding profusely." Husbands!!!:duh:

I know just what you mean. I never know what's going on when my DH tries to explain something about the dogs. He gets stuck on the small stuff and forgets to tell me important stuff. :duh::duh:

    Sending for Sammy.

Awwwwwwwwww - it's a shame a dog gets "punished" (by a bloody tail) by being happy!!! Something sounds SO wrong with that!

At least he noticed. I came home from a weekend away to a dog with a big sore on its nose. When I asked what happened to Pebbles nose, he said "Is something wrong with it?" :duh:

Isn't that the truth? The vet told me that it happens a lot with big dogs, Labs mostly, since they have big, fat tails, that are always on the move, and they keep hitting things all over the place. She said some have to have their tails amputated, they bleed so many times it ruptures the veins and they cannot heal... poor dogs! I feel so bad for Sammy, but right now he has to wear a cone, since he tried to eat up the bandages last night... poor boy!:hearts:
