Thanks for the link, Vicki. I'm going to but those next time. They'll like it when I buy 100 of them at once!

Neat stamps! Postmaster told me they will be available in April. I have 100 ordered.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

I need to research it and will get back to you but there is something not kosher about those stamps and what they really go to support...give me a day or so..
Being on the post office site only means they make money for the post office not that the other money is being used in the right way. I personally think my money is better spent on a local level where I know it is going the right place. I will see what other information I can find.
This is one of the email threads I am following. Local ASPC and Humane Societies can be good but both organizations on the national level are known to not use funds correctly.
One person askes:
> Does anyone know whether HALO natural pet foods and products are in
> any way afilliated with HSUS? Ellen DeGeneres recently became a part owner of the company and the USPS is issuing a new 44 cent postage stamp in April featuring dogs and cats. Before I buy any of these stamps, I
> want to be sure that I am not contributing to HSUS coffers!
Here is a researched response:
HSUS is one of the sponsors of the program.

It is not clear who actually gets the meals/money.

I have to really question why they are allowed to use the postal
service to push this agenda... not that feeding shelter pets is bad,
but if you look at it as a total message, along with the previous spay/
neuter stamp, it is utilizing federal government resources for a
lobbying effort.
Ellen has been strongly Animal Rights for some time, and has amassed
some honors, including being PETAs Woman of the Year last year

She and Portia DiRossi were honored by HSUS with a Genesis Award, and
Pacelle noted that they had "a significant role in the passage of Prop
2" (the chicken cage bill in CA)

She has previously used her ebay store to support HSUS, though right
now it's being used for Haitian relief

I think it's VERY clear what Ellen's message is... and I, for one,
will not be buying those stamps...cute or not.
I also won't be using any more Halo products either.
Okay, without having to click thru and read a bunch of c**p what is the beef with HSUS? And what 'agenda' are they pushing that is so bad?
I agree that local rescues are the best use of money, but I have to have stamps anyway (and I use a lot of them in our business) so why not buy them where there is a chance the money will do some good versus just making money for USPS? I don't see the harm there.
I also use a couple of the Halo products and will continue to use them as long as the company doesn't change them. They are good products that get me the results I want. Why not use them?
