    I think that there's likely a blood clot in there. I wouldn't be flushing it with water in case you loosen the blood clot and it comes out. When the blood clot comes out, that's how you can get a dry socket, and that can be very painful.

    He seems fine. After everyone's advice I decided I'm going to watch it for a week while he's still on the clavamox. Nothing's going to get infected while he's on an antibiotic. Most things I read said the sockets close in a week, so I'll just keep an eye on it.

    Glad to hear he is fine. Is he eating soft food for now?
    My socket closed in about a week, with no problems at all and no pain, funny because from what I have been reading it says it can be painful.
