Black Dog Roll Call!

If my memory is not all mushy, I think last year there was a thread about red dogs somewhere here.

Butters is indignant that there's no red dog thread. J/k. It is true that there's a stigma about black dogs and I don't get it. My neighbors volunteer for a rescue called Black Dog Rescue and they rescue black dogs specifically because they said they're less popular and more in danger of being PTS in kill shelters.

I don't get it because I like black and chocolate dogs, even though I have reds- I actually was looking for a black and tan when Butters stole my heart, and no one can blame me for choosing him as he is the best dog ever. And Rigby was going to be a chocolate and tan mini, but somehow we ended up with her instead, even though she is a crazy hot mess.

I won't get a choice when we adopt the next dogs (after these pass in 100 years or so) because we're going to rescue and it will be all about personality.

It is because there are so many black dogs. Black the dominate gene and when you have 20 black dogs and the other colors stick out more in the room so they tend to get adopted first. Another reason black dogs get over looked is because sometimes their eyes are hard to see so that makes them appear mean. :(

These are such cute pictures . I have never had a black dog.

I have a dog with heavy black overlay and mostly black ears, and I think that black fur is soooo pretty and shiny. But I don't think she qualifies for this thread :(
