    Default Jerky Treats

Don't know if anyone uses Jerky Treats, but the CVMA and the AVMA have both issued warnings about them linking them to kidney issues:

A BIG ditto here! I stopped that years ago.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

Nope. Mine get dehydrated chicken I make for them from fresh chicken. If I could raise the chickens myself, I would.

Yesterday I read EVERY package (2 aisles) of dog treats at Pet Smart, and almost ALL of them are made in China. A scant few were Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, etc. Why? Some did NOT give an origin besides "trademarks are registered in Switzerland". China has a virtual monopoly on dog treats. Surprising. Almost nothing was made in USA, and of that, we saw nothing that looked healthy, like something I would eat (eg, chicken jerky).

Can we buy any healthy meaty dog treats made in USA? Which?

We may end up cooking our own. Sigh.

I've gotten to where I only buy my dogs treats at Bones2Go because they don't sell imported treats. All these stories about the bad stuff in treats made in China has me totally freaked out.

    Yikes!

We're throwing out all our "Happy Hips" (by Dogswell) jerky treats (http://www.dogswell.com/happy_hips), because they're made in China.
    Dogs love them, but ...

Here's another scary report of kidney failures caused by chicken jerky treats from China:

Its a good thing my dogs dont get jerky treats of any kind. I never buy them because they normally cost a lot more and now because of this. Thank you for posting. Its sad you cant trust the food you feel your dogs.
