    Default It's a miracle!

Are you sitting down? Please make sure that you swallow anything you may be eating or drinking before you continue. I'll wait.

    Ok, ready?

Piper earned her Canine Good Citizen certification!!!

I know, you are flabbergasted, right? She is a stereotypical overly friendly, very energetic, I love everyone kind of lab. I was worried most about the accepting a friendly stranger part, because she still has a tendency to jump if she is overly excited, but I had her sit and she did great! She walked on a leash, met other dogs, did the supervised separation, everything but the recall.

Well, she did the sit stay and let me walk away and walk back without moving, she sat and let me walk away, but when I called her she ran to me and then kept on going. You are allowed to retest one item, and the evaluator was a friend who said she knew Piper could do it because she has seen her do it before. On the retest I could see her veering out away from me about 5 feet away and I sidestepped and caught her in a bear hug. Actually, my leg caught her head first, so I have this great shiner that is about the size of a softball on my shin. But, apparently this is okay because she passed!

She still has a looong way to go before being competition ready, but she is getting there. She is PERFECT at off leash heeling in the house, with automatic sits and perfectly straight come fronts, but when we leave the house...Lord, help us. :duh:

    :way2go: Piper and Lins!

That recall is tough. That was where Miller almost failed his CGC. The difference is that he barely trotted the whole way to me. But it was better than the week before when we practiced and he WALKED the whole way.
