Laika never went totally down but was on the way..her spinal cord was over 75% occluded and the surgeon couldn't believe she was still walking. Took her 4 days after surgery to walk again and you know how wonderful she is now...

So sorry to be late here....
I've been through back surgery twice with my Jax. I think you did everything in the right order. I would have given the tramadol for pain as well.
Anxiously awaiting an update. Continued healing thoughts for Buddy!

Buddy had back surgery today. He has a 3" scar and staples. He's gonna be sore in the morning. Dunno when my boy is coming home (1-3 days)?
Dr. Talaat said she found 2 rupture sites via MRI: T12/13 and T13/L1. Typical sites. She thought Buddy's neck seemed OK as is, so didn't MRI it too. T13/L1 was new and easy to remove. But T12/13 was chronic (ie, old) and so it had scar tissue effectively gluing the bulging disc to the spinal cord. She carved out as much as safely possible.
She'll assess him tomorrow. All those awesome rayz mean it's gotta be good news. Thanks everyone!

SOOO glad he's done with surgery and doing ok!!!!
Don't freak if he's not a lot better tomorrow..with all the scraping etc they did I am sure the spinal cord is irritated and then it swells and function doesn't return right away. Just takes some time.
