Default Dogs vs. wolves socialization with humans

    http://esciencenews.com/articles/201...s.can.be.tamed

TL;DR - Tolerating humans in dogs vs. wolves differs due to timing of their socialization gene during the critical 1st month. The gene for wolves to accept humans asserts at 2 weeks old, but for dogs it asserts at 4 weeks old. That's before wolves can see or hear. But the human acceptance window is still open when dogs begin to see & hear. So it's important to socialize very early.

Very interesting information. It also amazes me how dogs can be so forgiving when they've been abused and then go to a new home and show so much love & devotion! Our rescue Penny was a case of distrust but within the year she dropped many defenses. The amazing thing is the window of love she has for our 4 y/o grandson. Just a miracle for sure. We have had her since 2003.

Thanks for sharing the article. Very interesting. I love reading about behavior and I do love wolves.
