    Default Make Your Own Kibble

With all the recalls and problems with commercial kibble, I thought some people might be interested in this. It was in Bark magazine newsletter and it is an article on making your own kibble.

Very interesting!! But if James ate either brown rice or sweet potato, he'd blow up like a BERY smelly balloon . Something to bookmark though! (I love Bark Magazine )

    Don't want that!

I'm sure you can eliminate any ingredients that would give problems. When I was making homemade raw food, I tweaked the recipe as I went to fit the dogs that I had then.

That is a very cool idea. The girls would be so excited if I made something and they realized it was for them .

That is very close to the recipe my dogs get, except I use pumpkin instead of carrots and sweet potato. I feed my recipe raw.

    I didn't notice any calcium sources.....anyone?

I used either bone meal (for animals, not plants ) or yoghurt for Alex.

When I made my own raw food, I based it on Dr Pitcairn's recipe. It called for bone meal also (yes, the animal kind not the plant kind )

hmmm - might look into that for Jadaa- she is regurging every day no matter what we do - in chair out 3 minutes 50 minutes - drinking water without water -shifting meds - so bery sad - she has zero reserves left and is getting almost boney - as a tweenie she is a very skinny 12 pounds and a lot of that is hanging skin:( I've got to get a way to get some calories into her that won't cause a heap of fat.
Anything for my baby - she still has quality - still demands to get in chair with Mommy or Daddy - actually snapped at Sam yesterday when he got too close!!! That's the old alpha I loved!!!!

    Lisa,
Can you give us the recipe you use? I tried to do some research on this topic and got lost quickly. Thank you.
