Do you think that switching to a raw meat diet would help Cassie? It did for Holly. See http://rawfed.com/myths/rebuttal5.html#pancreas

Well, coconut is out.
After she is 100%, I would work with a good holistic vet before making any more food switches. There is nothing wrong with I/D if it keeps her pancreatitis in check and prevents her from becoming diabetic!!
I forgot to add rayz for your spotted beauty.
Thinking of you girls. Hope she's back to tip-top soon, Kim. Great that the girls can be together... I bet they are terrors when apart!
More rayz headed your way

Aw, poor baby. tons and tons of and .
If you remember, Jules had pancreatitis, along with IBD, (of course she did...she was one of MY dogs ) and that's when I started cooking for her. Bland chicken and rice mushed up in a food processor (in part due to her lack of toofies) and some supplements is what she lived on quite happily for the last couple of years of her life. My sister has suffered (and it is incredibly painful) from chronic pancreatitis for years, and has to be very careful of her fat intake. She also has an enzyme capsule that she takes with her meals to help the pancreas do what it's supposed to be doing, and for the most part, it works too (except when she gets really overtired and eats poorly ). Maybe something to check into?
That sounds like Jules and Wen...when I took one or the other into the vet, the other had to go along or else they were not best pleased, and let the world know about it!

Kim, I found this. It is way too technical for me, but I think you will get something out of it.
I was actually searching for coconut oil safety for dogs with pancreatitis when I found it.

How is Cassie today? I know this is a difficult time for you both.

My friend has schnauzers and 2 of them have had chronic pancreatitis. One was really bad and she finally called me and asked for my vet's phone number and started taking the schnauzer to her. It took a lot of work, but they did get her on track and she lived to a ripe old age of 15. Considering that my friend thought she was going to die at 10, it was amazing. She was able to get her on a raw diet, but it was mostly chicken as I remember.
