WOW. Double Wow for the bull terrier. The original is so much cuter.

I knew how much different dachshunds used to look. I have some photographs and book illustrations from the early 1900's and the dachshunds look so much different than the ones we see today. I always thought Miller was pretty leggy for a dachshund and then discovered he looked just like the ones in the old pictures. It's really sad what humans do in the name of winning.

Great link. I agree that breeders have not done these lines of dogs a favor. I wonder why the Bull Terrier went through such a facial cosmetic change?

This is really interesting! They have definitely not done these dogs any favors, and we are seeing it with our long little wienerdogs .

I agree about the bull terrier... I've always thought their skulls looked deformed. They were very cool looking before.

Interesting. Breeders are suppose to better the breed. Yeah, right. I like the "originals" best.
They may be small, but you should see their hearts. Shelter/Rescue dogs aren't broken. They've simply experienced more life than other dogs. If they were human we would call them wise. They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write. The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage. Do not pity a shelter/rescue dog. Adopt one. And be proud to have their greatness on your side. Anon

    Thanx for posting this.
The old fashion dachshund looks just like Doxie. Especially the face.
