    Default Harness Suggestions

Patti arrived with a collar, and I don't do collars, not since Maxe almost choked herself to death with one a number of years ago. So, since I have enough dog stuff to outfit a small country, I tried the others' harnesses on her. He's about the same size as Wen, so I figured that his would fit. Nope, too small in the back (Patti is a very L O N G dachsie ). James' fits better in the back, but is too big in the chestical area (Patti is smaller there than most dachsies). I've been using it, but he keeps getting his legs caught. I also tried Alex's hug-a-dox on him, which was of course HUGE (Alex was, after all, 24 lbs, and Patti is now 16). The hug-a-dox doesn't work on him because of his tiny chest and the neck piece chokes him. Laura had a couple at the clinic they don't use, so I tried one on him...it's a good design, kind of criss-cross, but cuts him under his arms. *sigh*

So the long and the short of it is that I don't seem to be able to find one that fits him, and I don't want to go back to a collar. Any ideas??

We do hug a dog and love them. But sometimes I use the Lupine step in harness too.

Here is a great article. How about this one?

See how it cuts in behind his little legs? that's what the one I borrowed from Laura does, and he doesn't want to walk in it. *sigh*

This one goes behind the legs too but maybe it might be more comfortable than others?

Here's the one I have now (modeled by James on his last public outing *sniff* with a guest appearance by Wen ). If there was just a size between these two, it would be great! I like these ones because they don't press on the throat, and don't put undue stress on the neck or back, or behind the armpits.

I have a Puppia harness for both Peaches and Piper, and we love them.

We have the basic soft harness (SOFT HARNESS® AC30), but it looks like they make tons of different ones now. We've had ours for years.

We use the puppia and hug-a-dox here.

Let me know, P. I can send you a Puppia to try it out.

One of the pet stores here (Global) has Puppia...maybe the best thing to do is to just take him in and try a bunch on. Thanks for the thought, Lisa...don't want you to have to go to all that bother!!
