    Default Dachshund Specialty

So the 3 day weekend is over and I have my showing debut behind me now. I had you friends in mind when I took some pics. I hope you enjoy them.

The first day was outdoors on grass..

This is called brace, when a breeder chooses to show 2 dogs together. They must be like one dog with it's shadow..

These 2 boys came in from the States..

Engli left and her cousin from the States who is almost 16..

    Handsome wire getting ready

Veteran sweetie waiting for the veterans' turn in the ring

Our cute little travelling toothbrush holder, suction cupped to the mirror, a little doxie

Georgia and I in the ring. Her borzoi buddies from class were on the sidelines

Georgia with her winnings at the end of the event..

The last amazing surprise of the event, the Best In Show, a mini piebald girl named Ruby!!!
(This is certainly the talk of the town!)

Georgia was SUPER in the ring!! She is such a little sweetheart and a charmer for sure. I'm glad I took this opportunity to show her.
    Thanks for stopping by.

    Thank you!
This was a dachshund specialty, not an all-breed event. 70 dachshunds came in to compete against each other and this red pie girl was picked as Best in Specialty Show. No other breeds were participating in this event. What this means is that she beat the standards there, all the champions that came out. And this was a national specialty.

Specialties offer more events than an all breed. There is an event that only champions can compete, another for veterans 7-10, and 10 and over, there's brace where a breeder pairs up 2 dogs and walks 2 around the ring, and both are on the table at the same time. There is 'sire and get' which gives the breeder a chance to put in a champion male and 2 offspring, and the flip side of the coin where a champion female with her 2 offspring compete. The specialties here only come once every 2 years and they draw a lot of entries. None of these events happen at an all-breed event.

That said, there was an all-breed event going on all weekend too. It was a crowded event, very busy.

I love me some pie. She looked lovely and so well composed. I love the one of the cousin from the states... OK I loved them all. But my favorite was where her tail was wagging so hard it was a blur!
